The first Lola LMP2 car debuted at Spa in 2005 scoring an excellent debut win with the Chamberlain Synergy team. With RML, Horag, Binnie and Intersport Racing also campaigning the popular design for the next few seasons, the LMP2 car became the most popular and most successful design of its kind.

RML took back-to-back LMP2 class wins in 2005 and 2006, with Binnie making it an historic hat trick in 2007. In the ALMS the car was equally as spectacular with Intersport taking the 2006 LMP2 title.

The car continues to race in the 2009 season with Kruse-Schiller Motorsport campaigning a Mazda engined chassis in the LMS and at the Le Mans 24 Hours.
