When the first Coupe designs were mooted in 2007, Lola initially focused on the LMP1 design but it soon became apparent that LMP2 could hold a distinct advantage for a Coupe design.
This was borne out at the Barcelona 1000kms race in Spring 2008 when the Speedy Sebah team raced their Lola B08/80 to second place in the LMP2 class. Subsequently more partners invested in Huntingdon LMP2 technology with double Le Mans champions RML upgrading their LMP2 to Coupe spec in time for the Silverstone LMS race in 2008.
For 2009, no less than six B09/80’s were racing on both sides of the Atlantic. The Barcelona 1000kms saw a historic LMP1 and LMP2 victory for Lola and potential customers are left in no doubt that Lola’s aerodynamic, composite and multi engine installation skills are the very best available.
Speedy Sebah scored a richly merited 2nd place at the Le Mans 24 Hours and then won the Silverstone 1000kms LMP2 class. 2010 sees a further development with new suspension geometry and a rear end aerodynamic upgrade. RML, Kruse-Schiller, Racing Box and Dyson Racing will once again race the Huntingdon designed and built cars and two further teams are close to announcing their plans to join them.
